I am:
I am a wandering cloud — I mix in with the other clouds in the sky, doing my job of cooling the earth down when needed most. I float amongst the heavens, in the skies where no one else can touch me. My form may change however I wish, but I remain the same: I am a wandering cloud. I am a lone leaf on the ground — I came from the tree, up high on its branches. I held on it tight, along with my fellow leaves. But when the time comes and I have to let go, I release my grip and slowly fall. Once in the air, I am never alone; lots of other leaves would follow. But as the wind carries us to places we don’t know, we slowly drift apart from one another. I twirl and twirl in the air, and now I am what I am: I am a lone leaf on the ground. I am a coin that lost its value — Before I used to be handled with care, my owner being cautious as so she wouldn’t lose me. I was safely kept inside her pocket, and I jangle along with the other coins. But once she takes us out and spends us, we now fall into the hands of strangers. Being passed on here and there, we slowly lose the value we had before. And as I am handed to another stranger, with his shaky hands I have now fallen to the ground. No one would dare pick me up, for I am covered with dirt and unnoticeable anymore. I have reached my lowest point: I am a coin that lost its value. I am an eraser that is rarely used — Once brand new, I was taken by someone who used me a lot. I would be by his side, and now and then she’d pick me up and erase the unnecessary markings she made for her sketch. Slowly, I was beginning to crumble, my soul slowly thinning, losing my shape; however, before this happens, she leaves me at a corner. Time passed - who knows how long - and dust starts to form in the creases of my body. What used to have a purpose was now forgotten and dusty, and that is what I have become: I am an eraser that is rarely used. I am a distant star — From my creation, and the beginning of my life, I was always alone. I could see other stars far away from me; I wonder if they also think the same. Staying in that one area in space, I had no one with me. I could hear laughter from a distance - maybe they were from planets that were a few light years away. Maybe in those planets, whoever may be there can see me here. Maybe they’d think that I’m with my fellow stars, and that we’re communing with one another. What they don’t know is that I remain what I am, from my birth to my death: I am a distant star.
