Testing sharing my personal website analytics publicly

I’ve seen other people share the analytics to their personal websites publicly and initially wondered why one would do this, aside from I guess… transparency?

But either way, here’s mine since I have Umami set up with my site just as a way for me to see where people are viewing my blog posts from and which posts do get traction and such. I don’t really peek at this as often as I thought I was going to do though, but I’m happy it’s just set up and it’s simple enough to do so.

There was a moment when my Umami site went down because of some config stuff with our servers and now I kinda don’t see the need to have this up. I’ve removed it starting this update and undecided yet if I’ll put it back or not—it was nice to see where people were “tuning in” basically, but aside from that it’s really not much help aside from if people actually respond or react to my posts, and I think I value that latter part a bit more than just seeing the views from around the world (especially when I had the time a bajillion “people” from Singapore supposedly visit my site, when I think they may all just be bots¹. I should just fix those instead.)
